Folding Boat Expeditions does exactly what it says on the tin - extended trips and sometimes sponsored expeditions in remote and often challenging environments - as far from people and as close to nature as possible.
But far from being "man against nature" FBE is about enjoying the natural environment and adapting to the weather, the terrain and even the bugs. FBE is about paddling folding canoes (preferably) and folding kayaks (where necessary) through the wilderness.
FBE is about sharing time together with friends and loved ones away from the strains of daily life, recharging and getting back to our roots.
Why folding canoes and kayaks? The interest in folding boats started out as a means of enjoying canoeing whilst living in a tenement flat in the heart of Glasgow, Scotland. The need for a boat that could be stored under the bed or on top of a wardrobe was a top requirement. When we discovered that such boats were well built, forgiving and capable then we were sold.
Folding boats have allowed us to reach exciting wilderness areas. They fit the philosophy of "bend don't push", listening and reacting to the environment instead of forcing one's way through it. We have many miles under the hull of both our folding canoes and kayaks and look forward to many more to come.
